Here’s Your Clean 15!

Yesterday I gave you your “Dirty Dozen” which are the top 12 produce items you should buy organic or avoid if conventional. The good news is that there is a “Clean 15”! These are the vegetables and fruits that are the least contaminated by pesticides. I always recommend organic but if you are on a tight budget or the produce is not available, you can feel a little less concerned about consuming these conventional options.

1. Avocados
2. Sweet Corn*
3. Pineapples
4. Cabbage
5. Sweet Peas (frozen)
6. Onions
7. Asparagus
8. Mangoes
9. Papayas*
10. Kiwi
11. Eggplant
12. Grapefruit
13. Cantaloupe
14. Cauliflower
15. Sweet Potatoes

*I would just like to note that I realize corn and papaya is on this list. This list just measures pesticides. It is not taking into consideration GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). In these two cases, I would always buy organic.
