So I must admit. Up until a few months ago I was still using my conventional deodorant although I knew it contained many chemicals that were linked to cancer. Every morning I felt so guilty as I put it on. I knew I had to change it but I had tried 4 or 5 safe options and nothing worked. Refusing to stink, I continued to use my toxin-filled deodorants. Then, I put it out there on a post and asked you all…“What safe deodorant are you rocking?” I could not believe how many people felt the same way. I got great suggestions and was committed to trying them all! At first I did a few days of each but then I realized it would take longer to really get a good opinion because I needed days that I worked out hard, days that I was dressed in nice clothes and days that I was simply more sweaty or hormonal.
4 months later, I have finally decided which of the 9 is my favorite. Here are the ones I tested:
Poofy Organics– Peppymint Tea- white stick
Weleda– Wild Rose- spray
Primally Pure– Lavender- white stick
Primal Pit Paste– Lavendar- white stick
Lavanila– Vanilla Lavender- white stick
Aubrey– Calendula Blossom- spray
Tom’s– Natural Powder- white stick
Nature’s Gate– Grapefruit and Wild Ginger- CLEAR stick
There is so much to each deodorant! Tub, stick, spray, clear, white, scented, unscented, etc… Plus, you may or may not be interested specifically in each ingredient. Some have thickeners or animal products that you may prefer to avoid and others are entirely organic. So there really may be a different deodorant preference for each of us. I will tell you why I LOVED these 3!
Weleda– Wild Rose- spray: Very safe ingredients for a good amount of fragrance! When I first sprayed it, the rose was intense but then it went away and all I could smell was fresh powder and I LOVED it! Most of the time, it worked all day. Once in a while, I have to spray again in the late afternoon. This is now my everyday!
Poofy Organics– Peppymint Tea- white stick: Great scent and worked all day! It was easy. Warning: It rubbed off onto my white sports bra and turned it a little beige so I have to either put it on after getting dressed or wear when I do not have white on. Still a huge fan though because it works! Plus, the ingredients are USDA certified which is a plus!
Soapwalla– Paste: Worked very well! It is a small tub so you can throw it in your gym bag, purse or toiletry bag for travel. BUT, I really had to get used to scooping it out with my hand and the gritty texture. Once I got past that, I really liked it. Definitely holding onto it for travel or on-the-go!
I learned that there are so many healthy alternatives and although it may be tedious, you DO have options in the safe deodorant world! Good luck and let me know if your favorite didn’t make my list and I will try it!
